How is the test done?

An HIV test is simple and quick. The same test is used to test for syphilis.

• We do a finger prick, a few drops of blood are used for your test.
• The blood is mixed with a chemical.
• We check the results together. You will be offered counselling during your visit so that you have the chance to talk about whatever you want.

We are in contact with both Östra Hospital and Sahlgrenska. If you test positive, we can provide clear information on the steps involved and securely point you in the right direction, if that what you choose. Among other things, we offer the possibility of having a support person accompany you to a formal health facility. We also offer the possibility of peer-to-peer support via our own organisations, RFSL Göteborg och  Positiva Gruppen Väst.
